In the last 4 years, a CBP agent has been arrested every 1.5 days.

CBP and Border Patrol employee arrests brings them to an average of an arrest every 1.35 days for July 2025.

In the last 4 years, a CBP agent has been arrested every 1.5 days.

It’s that time again; time for another visit to the CBP Employee Arrests page. I find it surprising that this program is still running considering that Trump ordered the oversight agencies gutted, but I will continue to publish these occasional updates showing that CBP and Border Patrol employees are arrested at high rates for any population much less a federal law enforcement agency.

For reference, this piece currently covers the fiscal years of 2022 to current (July 2025). Fiscal years for the federal government start September 1st meaning that we still have two more months before fiscal year 2025 is complete, and then I can compare the yearly stats. This piece will look at where the agencies are in this moment. Remember that CBP is the parent agency to Border Patrol. I will compare the whole of CBP which includes Border Patrol and then at Border Patrol and CBP separately. Categories of crimes are designated by CBP.

It is also important to remember that CBP and Border Patrol underreport these numbers as they require agents and officers to voluntarily report their arrests. The agencies' stated goal is to be at 1% or less for the percentage of staff arrested each fiscal year. For my past statistical comparisons, please see my other posts on this topic. Since 2018, Border Patrol has had a higher percentage of agents arrested every year than the migrants they apprehend have as a population.

Let’s start with July 2025 as it is the most recent month reported. In all, twenty-five CBP and Border Patrol employees were arrested for crimes spanning from sexual assault of children to drugs and alcohol. The statistics below show that in July 2025, a Border Patrol agent was arrested an average of every two days, and a CBP officer was arrested every three days. Since CBP includes Border Patrol in their arrest statistics, combining CBP and Border Patrol employee arrests brings them to an average of an arrest every 1.35 days for July 2025.

Now let’s look at fiscal year 2025. This spans from September 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025. This means there are still two months before fiscal year 2025 is finished. To date for fiscal year 2025, a CBP officer was arrested every 2.6 days and a Border Patrol agent every 3.5 days. Taken together, CBP as a whole had an employee arrested every 1.5 days of fiscal year 2025 to date.

Finally, Let’s look at this in the context of the last four years. This will include fiscal years 2022 through July 2025; September 1, 2022 to July 31, 2025.

All statistics provided by CBP.gov.

As you can clearly see, both agencies have severe problems with employee arrests. On average, CBP as a whole (this includes Border Patrol) has an average over the last four years of having an employee arrested every 1.5 days. CBP alone averages an officer arrested every 3 days, and Border Patrol averages an arrest of agent every 3 days during this time. Of particular note is that 192 CBP and Border Patrol agents were arrested for domestic violence, 46 for assault, 36 for crimes including child rape, 15 for sexual assault of adults, 25 for obstruction of justice, 27 for weapons violations, 5 for violent crimes and a whopping 422 for drugs and alcohol. A crime for which these same agents deport people.

I expect to continue seeing CBP and Border Patrol intentionally mislead the public and press on these arrests. I imagine they will eventually end this program if the country continues down this political corruption path. Fact of the matter is that the agencies continue to lie about employee arrests and the media continues to fail in reporting these arrests.

These are the agents entering your communities claiming to be arresting the worst of the worst, yet they themselves are being arrested for crimes much worse and at a higher percentage than those they claim to be protecting us from.
